About Robert Myer, Ph.D. :
Robert J. Myers began his career as an Army officer. Commanding combat units and then working in staff assignments gave him insight into what it takes to lead, create, and sustain winning teams. He was an honor graduate of the Infantry Officers' Advanced Course as well as the Command and General Staff College.
After military service, he completed his doctorate in curriculum and instruction and has worked for ten years in supporting NASA education initiatives. He is an expert in using problem-based learning to guide instructional design. Leading a team of instructional designers, graphic artists, and Web programmers, he directed creation of Web sites such as the highly successful NASA Exploring the Environment series (http://www.cotf.edu/ete) and Global Perspectives (http://www.cet.edu/earthinfo). In addition, he was the team leader on the design of the online, professional development courses for NASA's Earth Science Enterprise ( http://www.cet.edu/essea ). His educational materials team won numerous awards in their work for NASA education. Among them include the Golden Web Award, the Eisenhower National Clearinghouse's (ENC) Digital Dozen Award, the EduNet Choice Award, StudyWeb's Award for Academic Excellence, and LookSmart's Editor's Choice Award, one of 110,000 sites selected out of over a million reviewed by the Reader's Digest subsidiary.
Dr. Myers' experiences, both in the Army and in working with organizations such as NASA, have shown him the importance of knowing yourself and those you lead. He is keenly aware that these two principles are fundamental to developing the team work that separates the exceptional organizations from the “also rans.” His leadership workshops stress team building, problem solving, and the enhancement of emotional intelligence.
